A myth is a story and anything to explains any naturally occuring event, gods and a peoples culture. An example of a myth is the story of Demeter and Persephone which explains the seasons and why they change.
A hero is someone unique, who has abilities the common man/woman does not have also they are the founder of something new. An example is Hercules because of his great strength.
A hero journey is a journey of self discovery and change, in which the hero exits the old and familiar and enters something new and unknown. An example of this is the trials Hercules went through.
Something Universal is something complete which everyone has in common it is also true for everything. Everyone in our Mythology class is human.....i think..
An archetype is a model to be built onto or a pre-made design. An example is the 3 different models or archetypes for creation (watery abyss, the egg, and the Void)
When something is cyclical it means it runs in a circle and in which it starts and ends in the same spot kind of like the hero journey.
Duality is like physics, when there is an action there is and opposite and equal reaction. Like yin and yang, light and dark, man and woman. an example is Gaia and Uranus, Gaia is the earth and Uranus is the sky.
Creation is how something comes into being. Like how men were created by Zeus and the gods a couple of times till they got it right.
Cosmology is the study of the stars and the sky/ universe. Like Copernicus he was a cosmologist.
Life from death is an example of reincarnation or the beginning of something new when something else ends. An example is the hero journey when the hero exits the familiar it "dies" and then the hero enters the unknown or the "rebirth" or Jesus
Matriarchal its when the head of the family is a female also the foundation of female power, female rule. An example is Tiamet in Mesopotamian mythology.
Patriarchal is the exact opposite of Matriarchal in that its a man instead of a woman. An example is Zeus in Greek mythology.
Sacrifice is giving up something valuable so that something else may happen. giving up ones life so another can live. An example is how Dionysus died every year with the vine then came back every year to bring joy and party's and so forth.
